This is a mass migration of the larvae of Sciaridae (“fungus gnats”). Sometimes more than 1000 larvae move together forward in this way. They move forward in a line. If somebody forms this line to a circle the larvae must circle around. In nature this will probably not happen. The reason why they move like this is not really known. It happens only with mature larvae before pupating. In Germany we sometimes can see the same phenomenon.
