งูชนิดนี้เป็นงูพิษเขี้ยวพับ พิษมีผลต่อระบบเลือด แม้ไม่อันตรายถึงชีวิต แต่สามารถทำให้เกิดการปวดบวมได้ระดับหนึ่ง

ฝากให้ช่วยสังเกตเพิ่มเติมด้วยครับ จากที่ผมเคยเห็นในจังหวัดระนองและพังงาตอนบน พบว่าสีของจะดำขึ้นในพื้นที่ความเค็มน้ำทะเลสูงขึ้น จะเป็นจริงตามนี้ทุกที่หรือเปล่าหนอ

Bungarus fasciatus (Schneider, 1801)
เป็นงูเขี้ยวพิษหน้า พิษมีผลต่อระบบประสาทเป็นหลัก อันตรายถึงชีวิต แต่เป็นงูไม่ก้าวร้าว ไม่คิดพยายามต่อสู้เมื่อถูกรบกวน ไม่ชอบแสดงอารมณ์ดังนั้นเมื่อหงุดหงิดจริงจัง หรือเจ็บก็กัดโดยไม่เตือน
ลักษณะที่ดูเท่ๆ คือ สันหลังยกสูงจนทำให้รูปร่างเป็นสามเหลี่ยม สีดำสลับเหลืองเป็นปล้องขนาดใหญ่ทั้งสองสีและคาดถึงท้องด้วย ปลายหางกุดทู่แม้ไม่เคยกัดคนตายก็ตาม (มีความเชื่อว่างูพิษเมื่อกัดคนตาย ปลายหางจะกุดลงไปเรื่อยๆ) เกล็ดกลางหลังมีขนาดใหญ่โดดเด่นกว่าเกล็ดแถวอื่นๆ
